Women in Bristol are isolated and at risk of violence but can’t get the support they need. Facing multiple disadvantages and the impact of trauma, they experience marginalisation and stigma daily, cutting them off from vital local services. Women supported by One25 caseworkers last year experienced mental health needs (94%), homelessness (81%) and substance misuse (90%). Most have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence (99%). 59% have disclosed childhood abuse. 89% have street sex worked.

Caseworkers work closely with women to get them the help they need. Caseworkers specialise in addiction, housing, health and wellbeing, criminal justice, and domestic and sexual violence. They work with women and agencies such as Housing, the NHS and the police to dismantle barriers that prevent women accessing support. This long-term, trauma-informed support helps women take positive steps, such as securing safe accommodation, getting treatment for drug addiction, and escaping street sex work.
