    Situation

“Peter said he wanted to have one last Christmas at home. He wanted to see more of his friends and family and be home, where he belonged. That’s why Hospice at Home was perfect for us”. Many more people want to die at home, but only 40% of those needing end-of-life care at home in Gloucestershire receive it (CCG 2019). For patients dying at Christmas time it is especially challenging and Longfield are raising money so we can provide care for more families like Peter’s this Christmas.

    Solution

Longfield's experienced team will care for 20 more adults with a terminal illness in their final days, keeping 20 more families together at home to spend a last Christmas together. They give up to 3 care visits each day and overnight care as necessary. If families need advice to cope with rapidly changing symptoms between times, nurses will be on call 7am – 10.30 pm. “It was the best decision we made, having him at home. The staff at Longfield are superb. The best of the best” Eileen.
