To build & equip a non-denominational Sewing Workshop on Church land in rural Rwanda giving work to women with HIV who are shunned & cannot find work to support themselves & their children. If they can’t work they can’t eat if they can’t eat they can’t take their medication so die leaving orphans.

    Situation

In & around this village live hundreds of women with HIV passed on as a result of a genocide that ended in 1994. Some live because they have access to food & are able to take the free medicine provided by the government. Many more die & leave their children orphans, dependent upon the good will of the village & the Church food programme . Prejudice means that victims of HIV are shunned & unable to find work to make a living & support their children. They told us if they needed a sewing coop.

    Solution

We are looking for funding to build & equip a non denominational purpose build a secure sewing workshop/cooperative where locally based Pastors will teach HIV victims a trade so that they are able to sell their products at a local market. The cooperative will be self sustaining & the women will teach & support each other passing on their skills with support of the Church, currently they have two machines at in the Church but use is limited due to services & the full time school & food programme
