    Situation

Friendships are important to people, but particularly those with a learning disability as they tend to have fewer friends and opportunities for socialising. Parents and Carers of young children with disability need extra support and respite as they start on their journey into a world they previously may not have experienced. A shortage of services for Under 8s with a disability in West Essex has been identified by Essex County Council, Action for Children and Accuro’s own stakeholder survey.

    Solution

There is a real shortage of choice and social opportunities for Under 8s with disability and their families in Uttlesford, Essex. By providing regular stay and play sessions Accuro will provide an opportunity for children under 8 with a disability to make friends and socialise. The sessions will provide fun, safe and stimulating activities for the children. Parents and Carers can access support, signposting and much needed respite as families start their lifelong journey with Accuro.
