Situation

Homelessness in London is on the rise. The Swiss Church has been reaching out to the homeless community in London through diverse activities, offering a safe place for homeless people to get a haircut, food, meet other people, or just relax in a calm space.

Solution

Every 6-8 weeks, Jake Fox, stylist at Ena Hair Salon (and also responsible for the vicar’s haircut) comes in to give homeless people a free haircut. Before the pandemic, we organised "breakfast on the steps" alongside the haircuts, where homeless people could come in for a breakfast, meet new people, or just find a place of calm to enjoy a breakfast. Until we are able to re-open larger events, we would like to offer to the homeless a care package with daily essentials to improve their wellbeing.
