We believe young people are agents of change. The British Youth Council gives young people a voice on issues that affect them through education, training and events. We equip young people across the UK with the skills and confidence they need to create change on issues they care about.

    Situation

Young people feel that their voices aren't heard. They feel worried about their future and disconnected from a society that doesn't take their concerns seriously. Young people are less likely to vote, be elected, and to participate in selected political activities. Yet online and in real life it feels as though they’re more in tune with the political landscape than ever before. This suggests they're not disengaged with political issues; they’re disconnected from the system.

    Solution

The British Youth Council aims to empower young people from all backgrounds to create change on issues they care about and elevate their voices. Whether that be in finance and economics, healthcare, education or mental health. Through a wide range of programmes and membership services, we educate and train young people to influence and inform the decisions that affect their lives. This enables them to have their say and make them feel engaged in social action.
