Being socially or academically excluded often has a profound impact on a child’s life: a downward spiral of life expectations can begin that can affect relationships, education & employment. Help us bring our proven solution to 2,000 children this year by involving them in running our farms.

    Situation

50,000 children and young people in England are in provision for excluded pupils, and 1 in 10 of all children have fallen off the school register completely. The fallout of the pandemic continues to exacerbate children’s disadvantages, eroding their mental health, engagement with education and life chances. Without proven support and interventions like ours, they face a downward spiral into psychological and socioeconomic crisis.

    Solution

Jamie’s Farm works together with the education sector to catch multiply disadvantaged children before they slip through the net. Our immersive 5-day farm residential and follow-up, allows children to take on challenging, practical work, e.g. farming, gardening, cooking. Our therapeutic focus supports children to shed negative labels and see themselves in a positive light – tackling the root causes of exclusion. Early intervention has been highlighted as a key means of addressing this problem.
