    Situation

In the last year, 83% of our families reported struggling to cope because of isolation when we met them. The pandemic has exacerbated this with the reduction in services like health visiting, missed early years education and play opportunities. Loneliness and a lack of social connection are contributing to higher levels of poor mental health and anxiety, impacting on children's wellbeing. In an uncertain world, children under 5 depend on a positive external environment for their development.

    Solution

Our programme of group activities will include storytelling, early literacy sessions, arts & crafts, for parents to attend with their children, for free. We will also offer buggy walks and picnics in the park, and day trips for families to places such as Kew Gardens and West Wittering beach. In addition, we will provide 1:1 support for families via our staff and trained volunteers, who work with parents and children to encourage their participation and increase their confidence.
