After a difficult year, children and young people across Hampshire need us more than ever. By offing bespoke activities and focusing on the importance of being outdoors, we aim to help them address the issues they are facing, build their confidence, and encourage them to make positive decisions.

    Situation

The pandemic has been tough for children and young people. On top of anxiety about Covid-19, there has been a significant change in routine, changes to education, and the lack of social interaction is affecting social and emotional capabilities. Many have spent long periods indoors without access to nature which is known to negatively affect mental health and wellbeing. These young people need support for issues that have resulted from, or been made worse by, the pandemic.

    Solution

We will offer individually tailored support to address the issues faced by children and young people. Working with those most in need, we will offer 1 to 1 and group support, building up trusting relationships and giving participants the opportunity to realise that they are more capable than they thought. Research shows that spending time outdoors is vital to mental wellbeing, and as such we will offer the change to engage with Outdoor Learning.
