Champions for Children

The Childhood’s Trust Champions for Children campaign will fund 111 projects across London, helping thousands of children struggling with anxiety and depression to recover over the holidays and beyond, bringing happiness and wellbeing through play and other supervised activities. In addition to these projects the campaign will fund a wide range of practical and emotional support over the next 12 months, helping to ensure children in poverty are not left behind.

Situation

The Covid-19 lockdowns have disproportionately affected children whose lives are challenged by poverty, particularly in London. Many disadvantaged children have experienced chronic anxiety, stress, inadequate diets, domestic violence, loss of peer support and rapid mental health deterioration. Many are now struggling to just get through the day. Our research has found disadvantaged children are suffering mental health problems at twice the rate of children nationally.

Solution

The Childhood’s Trust Champions for Children campaign will fund projects across London, helping thousands of children to recover over the holidays and beyond, bringing happiness through play and other supervised activities. This has never been more needed, children living in poverty are right now, in crisis. In addition to these projects the campaign will fund a wide range of practical and emotional support over the next 12 months, helping to ensure children in poverty are not left behind.
