The Surviving Winter Appeal raises donations for local older people suffering during the winter months because of fuel poverty and social isolation. Every winter, here in Dorset, an average of 300-400 people die. Shockingly, this number went up to 920!

    Situation

We are urging local people to recycle unwanted winter fuel allowances and help older people in need. Many self-reliant older people are at risk during the winter months, particularly if they turn down their heating to save money or become trapped indoors due to bad weather and icy road conditions. Locally the statistics of 300-400 older people are shocking and nationally these translate into an older person dying every 7 minutes!

    Solution

We recycle winter fuel allowances ( a non-means-tested benefit) and by working with the local Citizens Advice Bureaus disperse them to people in need - here in Dorset! Feel free to support this cause if you feel passionate about it - we accept general donations.
