The impact of the pandemic on many local families is still unearthing. Struggling with poverty, isolation & mental health pressures, families now need our encouragement to reconnect with society as we begin to emerge from multiple lockdowns. Our focus is bringing back joy to families most affected.

    Situation

As recently reported by Home-Start UK, poverty, mental health issues and the social development of children were the main post-pandemic concerns for parents. Our local data illustrates similar findings; 2/3 families faced financial instability; 67% with parent unemployed; 89% of parents affected by poor emotional health and 85% of parents worried about their child’s future. These extreme and prolonged stresses caused by the pandemic will have a present and lifelong impact on families and children.

    Solution

Early year experiences are critical to a child’s life chances.Parent’s input is vital and our support model of being alongside parents offering emotional and practical support, helps to ensure that the 1st five years of a child’s life are prioritised. Our proven flexible and responsive approach provides a reliable source of connection and understanding to vulnerable families. This past year we’ve made 7,419 remote contacts with 241 families and plan to keep this approach supporting more families.
