Young people who live in Foyers are brimming with talent, but challenging life circumstances including homelessness have made it hard for them to develop in these strengths. To celebrate our 30th year, we want to give 30 young people grants of up to £300 to grow their talents and build their skills.

    Situation

Young people experiencing homelessness don't receive the same investment in their talents as those with the support and backing of a family and a stable home. This leads to a lack of key skills needed to find and keep work, gain sustainable independence and maintain a good quality of life while contributing to society. We believe in investing in young people's talents, ambitions, hopes and dreams. This project aims to level the playing field so young people can realise their power and purpose.

    Solution

This project will make small, personalised financial grants directly to young people who live in learning and accommodation centres, called Foyers. We will award up to £300 to young people who want to develop a skill, pursue a passion or grow a talent, providing financial backing to their investment of time and energy. Young people will shape and manage their own projects in line with their ambitions and dreams. The Foyer Federation will work with Foyers to encourage grantees in their pursuits.
