Support Bethany’s Welcome Centre; a 24hour walk-in night shelter in Edinburgh for those who would otherwise be forced to sleep outside this winter. We aim to support over 800 individuals with food, shelter, and individualised support that will help guests move on into more permanent accommodation.

    Situation

Every night, many people, young and old, sleep rough on the streets of Edinburgh. This is a group disproportionately at risk of the deadly effects of COVID-19 due to poor health, multiple underlying conditions, and limited access to PPE and handwashing facilities. As we secure ourselves at home, people on the streets remain at risk and unprotected. The virus has brought disparity into focus. What happens when you have no home to stay home this winter?

    Solution

This winter, Bethany’s Welcome Centre will provide homeless individuals with; • A warm & safe place to sleep • Safety from the elements • A private room with ensuite facilities • 24-hour care & support from professional staff • 3 meals a day inc. a freshly prepared, hot two-course meal in the evening • A range of professional onsite support services, such as dental nurses, mental health practitioners & doctors • Tailored support to help individuals move rapidly out of the crisis of homelessness
