Legal professionals have higher rates of stress, anxiety and depression than average. They experience long working hours, lack of supervision, a competitive environment and demanding clients. Common personality traits such as perfectionism, overthinking and imposter syndrome also contribute to poor mental health. COVID-19 has exacerbated this. We support everyone who is struggling and we work to better protect mental health for all throughout the culture and practice of law.
LawCare provides emotional support, information, and training. We help legal professionals in need via our helpline, online chat, email and peer support service. We educate the legal community on how to look after their own mental health and that of their colleagues and staff. There has been a huge change in the dialogue around mental health in the law so far, and in 2022, our 25th anniversary year, we are determined to make the law a happier, healthier place to work.
