To fund the recovery activities we will be doing with our children over the next 18 months to help them recoup physical, educational and emotional abilities and wellbeing lost during the pandemic. All the children are aged from 3 months to 5 years and have a variety of learning difficulties.

    Situation

All the children who attend our centres have been been impacted by the pandemic - both in terms of a loss of developmental abilities and also poorer emotional, social and physical wellbeing. Our internal assessment impact shows 50% of our children have poorer emotional and mental health and 30% are showing loss of learning and communication skills. The Disabled Children's Partnership found that nationally 58% of SEND children in the early years have experienced delays to accessing support.

    Solution

The specialist recovery activities we have introduced are wide in range, and are designed to help each individual child recover and move forward, by focusing on the main areas impacted by the pandemic. Many children have regressed in their development significantly and to ensure that they have the best chance of fulfilling their potential and have the same opportunities as their mainstream peers, these additional inputs are vital. With targeted interventions every child can have the best start.
