    Situation

The isolation, loneliness and anxiety experienced by young people with cancer has been massively amplified by the pandemic and lockdown. Unprecedented levels of mental health and wellbeing issues are anticipated given the challenges already facing young people and their families during and after cancer treatment. That is why they need the Trust more than ever right now.

    Solution

Through sailing and other UK-wide outdoor activities, the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust supports, inspires, and empowers young people to embrace their future with optimism after treatment for cancer. We help young people build confidence by making friends with others who have had similar experiences - often for the first time - rediscovering independence away from home and realising what they are capable of again. Most importantly, they stop feeling like the 'only one.'
