    Situation

Children and adults with learning disabilities and autism continue to face significant barriers to their full and equal participation in society. Poverty, discrimination, social isolation and health inequalities are common and enduring features of their lives. Barnet Mencap’s services are provided to increase opportunities for people, support them to develop skills and, through advice and information, to enable them to live as independently with as much control as possible.

    Solution

Our mission is that people with learning disabilities and autism should have an equal voice and be heard and valued. Barnet Mencap provides services and support for children and adults with learning disabilities and / or autism. These services include parenting programmes, advice and information for parent carers, short breaks for children and adults and a leisure and learning project. We provide advice, information, support, housing and outreach for adults and also work to increase awareness.
