In Baringo County, Kenya, decades of extreme weather have contributed to high levels of food and nutrition insecurity. We will improve the nutritional diversity of 1,000 households and support mothers and women of reproductive age to improve their health and the health of their children.

Situation
Decades of extreme weather have contributed to low agricultural productivity, frequent food and nutrition insecurity and high levels of stunting in children under-5 (29%). Other factors contributing to malnutrition include: poor Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, limited dietary diversity, lack of knowledge on nutrition and poor hygiene and sanitation practices, which spread water-borne diseases and reduce nutritional absorption.
Solution
We will improve the nutritional diversity of 1,000 households and support mothers and women of reproductive age to improve their health and the health of their children. Nutrition interventions will build the capacity of health staff and community volunteers to support women in improving nutrition, health and hygiene practices. When families adopt good nutrition, agricultural business is more successful and our projects become more self-sustainable at community level.
