Brain tumour survival rates remain among the worst of any cancer and research is desperately underfunded. Current treatments are severely limited and have barely changed in over 20 years. We urgently need to turn progress into impact for patients by taking a radical approach to research.

Situation
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and young adults, reducing life expectancy by over 25 years on average. Every day 33 people in the UK are diagnosed, yet brain tumours receive just 3% of cancer research funding. Treatment options are limited to surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but brain tumours pose unique challenges and these treatments often have little impact on survival and can have devastating side effects. We must develop more effective, kinder treatments.
Solution
From listening to our community our research is founded on 3 commitments: Improve scientific understanding: support outstanding science to increase our understanding of brain tumours. Fund innovative, potentially game-changing, ideas and approaches Accelerate new treatments: catalyse the translation of lab discoveries ensuring that promising scientific breakthroughs become new, effective treatments Maintain quality of life: assess and champion the most effective ways to maintain quality of life
