Exploitation can affect any child of any age and from any background. Although any child can be at risk, there are additional factors which can increase the likelihood of being targeted. From our own work, we know that 33% of our supported children do not live with family at some point, 25% are not in mainstream school, 30% had special educational needs and or a disability ( SEND) and 29% did not identify as white British. The risk of exploitation has increased during Covid-19 (50% in 2020)
Our support services include – • Intensive one-to-one and group support with specialist workers for children and families (specialising support for SEND and BaME communities) • Youth, transition and participation activities across a range of areas including life skills, sport, music and art, • Outreach engagement in the community • Training and awareness • Collaborative working with partners, parents and young people to learn from and shape best practice and research
“Well, I haven’t said this before and probably won’t say it again, but I am more confident". My teacher said I am more confident and that I wouldn't have spoken up a few weeks ago.”
A big thanks to you and your patience has been the key and the way you built up your relationship with my children to establish a solid foundation to discussing what is a very tricky topic for anyone and was nothing short of heroic”.
“I didn’t know about all the rights and it was a shock to see how many rights children have. When you hear about people’s rights you never hear about the rights for children, it’s always the rights for adults.”
