We support children and young people at risk from all forms of exploitation, largely sexual and criminal exploitation, but including arranged marriage, trafficking, gangs and county lines. Our aim is to support at the earliest opportunity with prevention and early intervention programmes.

    Situation

Exploitation can affect any child of any age and from any background. Although any child can be at risk, there are additional factors which can increase the likelihood of being targeted. From our own work, we know that 33% of our supported children do not live with family at some point, 25% are not in mainstream school, 30% had special educational needs and or a disability ( SEND) and 29% did not identify as white British. The risk of exploitation has increased during Covid-19 (50% in 2020)

    Solution

Our support services include – • Intensive one-to-one and group support with specialist workers for children and families (specialising support for SEND and BaME communities) • Youth, transition and participation activities across a range of areas including life skills, sport, music and art, • Outreach engagement in the community • Training and awareness • Collaborative working with partners, parents and young people to learn from and shape best practice and research
