    Situation

Students graduating in 2020 and 2021 have had contracts cancelled, missed vital auditions and missed a significant proportion of their face to face training due to the pandemic. Funding to the arts has been impacted and many companies do not have budgets to recruit dancers at this time. Therefore, there needs to be further support for graduating dancers in learning new skills to keep creatively engaged, motivated and develop a set of skills to help propel them into employment.

    Solution

Graduates will stay at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham to work with the Elmhurst and Studio Wayne McGregor teams. It is expected that the 5 day programme will include a range of activities, including Ballet and Contemporary technique classes, mock auditions, strength and conditioning sessions, choreographic workshops, mentoring and performance psychology and mindfulness sessions and business skills lessons, including tax, managing budgets, marketing and networking.
