Cumbria Action for Sustainability

Race to Zero

The UK is hosting the forthcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. This is a big deal. We want to raise vital funds to build on this momentum locally - inspiring people to get involved and take action to tackle climate change in the race to zero emissions.

The threats posed by climate change are immense. We urgently need to ramp up the actions we take.

Each of us has a part to play. That’s why we want to get as many people talking about climate change as possible. We will build on the momentum created by COP26 with a local campaign to raise awareness of the solutions available here in Cumbria, driving change in our communities, and inspiring others in the race to zero emissions.

  • I am really concerned about climate change and the impact it will have on my future. Our generation needs action to be taken now. It can’t wait.

    — Eve, 16, Cockermouth

  • "The climate and ecological crisis really worries me because of its impact on the many other creatures that share our planet. In Cumbria and all over the world, the level of species loss is heart breaking. Wild creatures have no voice to call for change, but we do, and it’s urgent that we use it."

    — Jenny, CAfS Volunteer

  • I think it is the most important thing ever to stop climate change because I don't want wild fires and flooding killing millions of people. That is not the world I want to live in. If everyone actually tried to take part and help a bit I think we would manage it and we could keep our world healthy.

    — Emily, 8, Brampton
