44% of Southwark’s children live in poverty. As we plan our holidays for this summer, a different kind of lockdown continues for these children. But with your help, our holiday club will give them an escape too, with fun and exciting day trips away from London.

    Situation

We started our holiday club so no child in Southwark has to go hungry through the holidays. The pandemic has made things harder, with many spending lockdown in cramped conditions, isolated from their friends and missing time at school. Research shows children in London, especially ones from poorer backgrounds, are more likely to suffer from mental health issues. Our trips are a chance for children to have fun, learn with friends, and experience life away from London.

    Solution

By funding our holiday club trips you’ll be giving a child the chance to play in the sea for the first time or even just meet a horse. Our holiday clubs don’t just feed bellies and minds, they give children a break from the challenges life in London brings. That might be hunger, loneliness or loss of learning. You will be giving kids brand new experiences and memories that will last a lifetime, all while boosting their mental health and putting the fun back into their holidays.
