    Situation

The UK government has clearly identified that almost 1,000,000 children from low income families have no laptops though supplying these to schools has been very slow with several still lacking access. The issue is deeper than just school closure during the lockdown through this is when the impact will be most felt.

    Solution

By supplying the families one laptop per household, these children are able to carry on studying from home whilst schools are closed and when they reopen will still have improve IT literacy and improved career choices. They will be competing with their peers on a more level playing field and not severely disadvantaged out of circumstances they have no control over. Additionally through remaining connected with the school community they will have improved emotional wellbeing.
