Upgrading our anaerobic digester that turns food waste into liquid fertilizer and biogas. In our community garden, volunteers will learn how to use the liquid digestate to improve soil for vegetable growing and to develop hydroponic systems. Biogas will be used for cooking.

    Situation

Too much food waste is being generated and ending up in landfill contributing to green house gases.

    Solution

Our community composting scheme experiments with different methods of recycling food waste. An anaerobic digestion system decomposes food waste by heating it using solar panels which generates liquid fertilser and biogas. The fertiliser puts nutrients back into the soil when diluted in water and the biogas can be used for cooking. Volunteers from the local community will learn how the system works and will experiment with different uses of the waste products.
