Situation
We are tackling issues of food sustainability by directly educating and encouraging our community to produce more food locally, over 80% of our food is imported to this country at a huge cost to the environment and more than half of that could be produced closer to home. At the same time our nature is struggling and we are suffering massive losses in our biodiversity, essential to our very existence on this planet. The pandemic has also hugely challenged people's mental heath and wellbeing.
Solution
By creating a community green space where people can come together to learn about local food production, tree planting and coppicing, promoting biodiversity and skill sharing through direct hands on experience and educational workshops. We will also be providing free workshops on living more sustainably, promoting renewable energy, nature nurturing and personal heath and wellbeing. We have already secured a large site on the outskirts of the village on a 21 year lease which is fully accessible.
