This project supports young people in Camden needing mental health support. We aim to help 60 young people during the pandemic, giving the skills to support themselves and their peers through such a stressful time. The project also increases social connectedness while remaining physically distanced.

    Situation

Surveys during the pandemic with YP we found YP under huge pressure &increasingly vulnerable &isolated due to Covid.Living in volatile households with little support, their main concerns were Education, social isolation & conflict within households. Peer support was the most popular action identified to help cope. We want YP to feel more connected, happy in building relationships, talking through challenges and learn how they can support their resilience and create change for themselves & others

    Solution

Peer support will compliment other forms of support available. Through our membership of Camden’s Youth Mental Health Board and Mental Health in School steering groups, we're able to make sure pathways are in place for cross referrals with other services. Through gaining skills to support themselves & others, YP will feel valued, develop relationships and experience a sense of agency. All these experiences are key to wellbeing, increased community belong and effective at improving mental health.
