Peat is the horticultural world’s dirty secret! Peat bogs are rapidly disappearing. This means the loss of a rare and special habitat, and the destruction of one of the earth’s greatest carbon stores. We want to put an end to this and remove peat from horticulture, to change perceptions and promote alternatives to the everyday grower.

We will change the behaviour of the millions of domestic growers across the country. By changing gardening habits and converting as many gardeners as possible to peat-free growing, we can collectively have significant influence on the retailers and manufacturers and reduce/eliminate the use of peat in gardening. We also need to take away the barriers by educating and training people on the different growing methods and ways that can show gardeners that they can effectively grow without peat.
