    Situation

Magdale Fields and Dam is a conservation area owned and managed by Honley Village Community Trust. It consists of grassland, woodland and an old industrial millpond. its is bounded on one side by the River Holme and has Mag Brook running through it. We have produced a biodiversity plan to improve biodiversity in the area through creating a more varied environment, more varied flora, and new habitats for wildlife. We want this to improve the experience of local visitors to the area.

    Solution

By funding projects to support our plan. This includes the creation of a community orchard, the creation of a pond/wetland area, the extension of wildflowers to create wildflower meadows, the introduction of non invasive water plants and the management of woodland to improve wildlife habitats.
