The pandemic, three national lockdowns and the closure of schools have adversely impacted the wellbeing of children and young people. Baytree will provide a fun summer programme, which will allow girls in our community to get creative, physically active and socialise, thus enhancing their wellbeing.

    Situation

The community Baytree serves has been hard-hit by the wide-reaching effects of the pandemic. Children's wellbeing has been especially impacted by the three national lockdowns and the longlasting closure of schools. Whilst children have generally responded with resilience to changes in their lives, the challenges they have faced include isolation from friends, learning from home, worries that family or friends might get sick but many parents and lack of physical activity and time spent outdoors.

    Solution

The Baytree Youth Service will run an extensive programme of summer activities that will allow girls in our community to play, get messy, creative and physically active. The programme will provide girls with opportunities to socialise with friends, go on trips and spend time ample time outdoors. (Whilst we hope that by the summer all restrictions will be lifted, we have both the infrastructure and experience to deliver a fun and successful programme should the restrictions not yet be lifted).
