    Situation

Our vision is to ensure our marine environment is healthy, wildlife-rich and enjoyed by all. Our marine wildlife and habitats are facing unprecedented threats from the climate crisis, ocean acidification and pollution. However, much of it is also out of sight and inaccessible to the majority of people. There are few opportunities for public engagement. Not only does Scotland's marine world need our protection: evidence indicates our own mental and physical health benefit from engaging with it.

    Solution

We aim to create interactive resources that engage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, making our marine world visible and accessible to all. These include delivering interactive exhibitions, events and coastal activities at our North Berwick ‘hub’, as well as bringing digital opportunities to people’s homes. We will encourage them to take action through citizen science, conservation and sustainable life choices, helping protect Scotland's stunning marine world for future generations.
