We believe that social and psychological aspects of sport can develop and empower young people to manage challenges, reach personal goals, build positive relationships and access career opportunities. BEK does this through a unique programme of training & skills development working across all sports

    Situation

For many young Londoners in low scoring socio-economic areas, the playing field is not level. As well as challenges around low self esteem due to negative attitudes of wider society and a lack of positive role models, there is frequent inequality of opportunity, exposure to uninspiring environments and social and economic barriers to accessible pathways towards personal and career development. Heightened by Covid, there is a dearth of experiences to level the playing field.

    Solution

When the whistle blows on Covid, we want to be reaching even more young people than ever before, enabling them to benefit from a range of personal skills development programmes and a breadth of experiences, mentoring opportunities and connections to businesses and individuals which create pathways to employabitly, further education and enhanced career prospects; to develop our partnership strategy to achieve ongoing impact around our delivery, our experiences for young people and our funding.
