Somerset is considered a green county, but just 10% is in good natural or semi-natural condition for wildlife. We have pockets of great habitats, home to amazing wildlife, but they’re increasingly disconnected from the wider landscape. To reverse wildlife decline and adapt to a warming climate, we must create a Nature Recovery Network - connected green spaces & wilder places through which wildlife can travel, to knit together nature reserves, farmed, community & council land, parks & gardens.

If nature is to have a future, we need everyone to imagine what their contribution could be and to take positive action in whatever way they can. Only with collective action can we have the impact we need. We’ll ensure our own land continues to be biodiversity-rich and use our knowledge, data and experience to work with our partners, farmers, landowners, local authorities and communities to help them create space for nature, inspiring them and supporting them with advice and practical resources
