    Situation

We’ve failed to meet the UN global biodiversity targets, climate change is accelerating, as well as large-scale habitat destruction and our broken relationship with nature has led to the emergence of new zoonoses, reminding us how human and environmental health are connected. We risk causing irreversible damage to the natural processes that support our existence and yet, only 4% of UK funding goes to the environment.

    Solution

For 28 years, WFN has been supporting conservation leaders who harness the best available science on which to act. Through them we support work rooted in community involvement that is pragmatic and creates lasting impact. Our winners’ reach is not limited to wildlife conservation, but addresses human poverty and climate change. Between our 200 winners, they address 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supported by over 190 countries, and 16 of the 20 Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
