Grassroots communities across the world are witness to environmental injustices such as deforestation, wildlife crime, overfishing, or pollution that affect their daily lives. However, these communities are often poor, remote, and marginalized, and face threats from powerful interests. Environmental defenders lack access to equipment, training, and support that can help them to document, expose and resolve environmental abuse by presenting compelling evidence to influential decision-makers.
We will strengthen our Environmental Defenders Project that provides equipment – video cameras, smartphones, and drones – practical skills, guidance, and support to grassroots activists, journalists, and community groups who need our collective help to have their voices heard. EJF will help document and expose issues and enable defenders to tell their stories with impact. We will give people the tools they need to make their environment safer, healthier, and sustainable for people and wildlife.
