We're in a climate crisis. Climate change is already wreaking havoc on people’s lives and livelihoods across the world and we know it will get worse if we don’t act now. COP26 is our chance to challenge the government to show real leadership on climate at home and globally.

Situation
In little more than a century, human activity has increased global temperatures by around 1°C and we’re currently hurtling towards 1.5°C of warming in less than 12 years. Inadequate action at the national and international level means we’re still on course for a catastrophic 3°C of global warming. Every small increase in global temperatures means more alarming effects of climate breakdown – from flooding and food shortages, to wildfires and species going extinct.
Solution
COP presents us with a unique opportunity to pressure the government to become a climate leader. To do that we will reveal the impacts and raise awareness of the international implications of UK climate policy and investments as well as holding the government to account on domestic decisions on infrastructure. Despite the rhetoric, the government is still investing in fossil fuels such as the Cumbrian coal mine. We will highlight this and put pressure on the government to drop such plans.
