Situation
Under 25s will be amongst the worst hit by the economic impact of coronavirus. The young people we support already face serious barriers to get into work; whether educational failure, a criminal record or struggles with mental health. Lockdown and social restrictions have increased isolation and negatively impacted confidence amongst these vulnerable young people. They face an uncertain future and need us now more than ever.
Solution
We have already worked with over 6,500 vulnerable young people to help them find employment. The Spear Programme equips them with the mindset, confidence and work-ready skills they need. We provide six weeks of group and one to one coaching, with a year of follow up support. This is currently running successfully online and will return to in-person delivery as soon as possible. We also partner with businesses and apprenticeship providers to maximise access to job opportunities.
