  • This bursary is a link to many children, including our girls to hold on to hope and the joy of singing…help to be part of the LYC choir is pure Joy and it is priceless. We are humbled by the kindness of everyone in the Choir and its Generous Patrons for reaching out to so many vulnerable families.

    — Parent of 2 choir members whose membership fees were covered by the LYC Financial Assistance Fund.

  • I also wanted to share with you the very exciting news that Zena has been offered a place with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Beyond any doubt, the amazing experiences & teaching and coaching she has had (and continues to have) with LYC has played a huge role in this success. Thank you.

    — Cambiata Girls' Choir parent

  • Thank you for such a wonderful term of choir. Nadia has loved being part of it. I really appreciate your efforts in keeping it all going so brilliantly under such difficult circumstances. And we loved the postcard! So thoughtful.

    — Junior Girls' Choir parent

  • I’ll miss LYC very much. It taught me so much about music, for so many years.

LYC aspires to welcome more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds & areas with few opportunities for high-quality choral singing. By removing financial & social barriers, we give talented young people the chance to work with leading practitioners & participate in major musical events. Numbers within our 7 existing choirs declined during the year of online rehearsals, yet membership was maintained by creating an 8th choir. Now we seek to regrow membership and increase accessibility for all.

LYC's team of choral specialists can make real substantial change to the lives and ambitions of young people across the capital. A major expansion programme launched last year has already seen the creation of 2 of 4 new junior choirs in outer boroughs, bringing the LYC Experience closer to home for children in disadvantaged areas. As per our 6 City-based choirs, fees will be subsidised and additional support provided to remove barriers.
