  • “LSSO is an incomparable ambassador for the dynamism and excellence of British youth”

    — Sir Simon Rattle

Owing to the ongoing lack of progressive music education in schools, students who are passionate about music need to pay if they want to further their studies. Not all families are in a position to offer such financial help. More families are struggling financially now than ever before owing to Covid-19. Bursary demand from existing and new students wanting to be part of the LSSO/CYM has increased significantly as a result of the pandemic. This trend is likely to continue throughout 2021.

FYM bursaries for LSSO students offer all talented young Londoners access to unparalleled performance opportunities with professional conductors and world renowned soloists and international touring possibilities, regardless of their family background and means to pay. Over 50% of LSS0 students study at CYM, which enables them to benefit from wide ranging music tuition including individual lessons on their chosen instrument(s) and composition classes.
