    Situation

A lot of the families that Ruddi's Retreat provides with a respite break have spent weeks, months and even years in hospitals or receiving gruelling treatment. These families generally tend to be struggling financially as well as physically and mentally. A respite break that is free of charge can mean the absolute world to a struggling family but it can also have great effects on the families mental well being which is often overlooked by many people (for the patient and also family members).

    Solution

By providing respite breaks we are relieving the stress that the families are facing. Most families that come to us for a holiday are suffering financial hardship and have an unbelievable amount of stress. Their child/ren have undergone an extremely traumatic time or have had invasive surgery which has a huge impact mentally both on the patient and the family as a whole. A respite break reduces the stress and offers time to be together as a family without constantly worrying about appointments.
