We believe that above all else, every child should grow up in a safe home, surrounded by a loving family. We need your help to equip community volunteers in Uganda to be the first line of responders for vulnerable children and their families, and to ensure they are kept safe and well.

Situation
In Uganda, families in poverty and crisis are forced to give up their children to orphanages in the hope of a better life. These families are extremely vulnerable, marginalised and at a very high risk of abuse, neglect and isolation. Without appropriate support, children are at risk of being placed in an orphanage, even though most of them have family, while their chance to fulfil their potential is greatly reduced.
Solution
We will mobilise, train and collaborate with a network of dedicated local community volunteers to prevent family separation. Community volunteers with appropriate mental health, well-being awareness and counselling skills will be able to provide support to children and families at risk of separation. Community volunteers with trauma-informed counselling skills will support children and young people leaving institutional care to make sure they are fully equipped to do so.
