Gabrieli Roar is an ambitious choral training programme in which professional musicians rehearse & perform side-by-side with British teenagers. After more than a decade challenging young people to exceed expectations, in 2021 we will deliver a major recruitment drive to double participation by 2022.

    Situation

Arts education in the UK is in crisis. Under pressure to improve outcomes in reading, writing and maths, the arts are being side-lined in the curriculum, so that only those children with families able to facilitate and finance after-school activities benefit from any level of artistic engagement. Further, where grassroot participatory music-making opportunities do exist, progression routes are limited.

    Solution

Gabrieli Roar works exclusively with children in the state school sector in partnership with youth choirs across the UK. We focus on regions of limited cultural provision/engagement. Through large-scale residential courses, we offer excellent choral training, culminating in the opportunity to perform alongside professional singers with a full-scale symphony orchestra. In 2021 we will run an intensive recruitment drive to raise our profile and double participation by our 40th anniversary in 2022.
