Mental Health First Aid training is part of our work with the community to break down barriers to inclusion; dispel myths; challenge stigma and prejudices; and educate people. We want to tackle the discrepancy of BAME populations accessing mental health services by providing MHFA training.

    Situation

The prevalence of mental ill-health amongst individuals from BAME communities is troublesome. Communities may have a history of fear, shame, and discrimination regarding mental ill-health, which leads to a failure to engage with mental health support services. As a society there’s much we can do to alleviate the impact of mental ill-health. MHFA training increases knowledge and confidence in identifying early signs of mental ill-health, teaches support skills, and provides signposting.

    Solution

We want to fund an MHFA Marketer to fully reach our potential in offering MHFA Training to members of our community. The Marketer will lead in liaising with local community and religious groups, helping us to market MHFA training opportunities; allowing our Instructors to focus their time on delivering training; thus increasing our capacity to deliver training to reach those often overlooked and underserved communities.
