When asked, most of us say we want to die at home, in the comfort of familiar surroundings, close to those we love. Lawrence Home Nursing Team gives people and their families the support they need to make that possible. Our registered nurses provide free hands-on end of life care, day and night.

    Situation

During this health crisis the nursing team continues to care for existing and new end of life patients as needed. We wish to continue to respond to demand as it arises and which we know will increase because of the health crisis, ageing demographic trend in our community and the expansion of the area we cover. The recent addition of the Deddington General Practice in North Oxfordshire increased our catchment area by 30%. Our direct operational costs will increase by circa £50,000 per annum.

    Solution

We are working hard to ensure we are able to finance the free, hospice at home nursing service we offer. Any grant funding would help to pay for additional nursing hours during this health crisis and this will continue for the foreseeable future. As we have evolved in a larger charity with a wider catchment area our financial needs have risen commensurately. With normal fundraising income streams on hold we have applied for grant funding from charitable bodies and held virtual fundraisers.
