Wintercomfort support men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Cambridge, many of whom are dealing with addiction, mental health issues and a history of abuse. Via long term support, we work to bring lasting, positive change to the lives of the most vulnerable within our community.

Situation
2020 has been a year of unprecedented challenge for Wintercomfort. Adapting our services at the onset of lockdown, we have since worked to provide daily hot meals and remote support services to those temporarily living in emergency Covid accommodation. We continue to support rough sleepers at our day-centre, now fully compliant with Covid safety measures. As the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on lives and livelihoods continue, we are witnessing an increasing demand for services with new homeless people arriving at our doors every week.
Solution
Wintercomfort provide broad reaching support to empower our homeless and vulnerably housed service users to access housing, training and employment opportunities to realise long-lasting positive change within their lives. We provide long-term counselling for service users with issues of mental health, addiction, domestic and sexual abuse. We also provide support with literacy, work-place skills, work experience and paid employment opportunities via our affiliated social enterprise scheme. Rough sleepers are supported with daily services including hot meals, showers, laundry services and fresh clothing for rough sleepers.
