I trust my Connect Caseworker and can tell her things that I have not discussed with anyone before. I know that my Connect Caseworker will look after me when it comes to appointments and speaking to agencies, I am so relieved to have her.
It feels like such a safe space, it calms me down the minute I walk in and sit down. I know I will feel better when I have left and that is so important for me in my recovery.
I’m not forced to do or say anything…I can take my time. After a couple of visits I opened up and didn’t have to console the staff…they knew how to help me and what to say. I’ll never forget the help I received and will be back in a flash if I need to.
This course overwhelmingly enabled the students to have the confidence to support friends as they go through any issues and ask the right questions but also where to go to seek support and advice. It has empowered the students to make the right choices in seeking support for themselves...
Covid-19 has exacerbated the issue of social isolation however, we see this as an ongoing and devastating issue in our community and particularly for those dealing with mental ill health. LEss resources, services and community engagement means there are less opportunities to connect, feel part of a positive space and communicate and connect with those around us. We aim to increase this connectivity by increasing connections online and face to face through group settings and support activity.
We aim to increase our group delivery of Mindfulness and Chatter groups to allow more autonomy for the community to engage with others, facilitated by us however empowering those attendees to take control and move those groups into the community, to be owned and delivered by those attending is the key act of empowerment. We will improve our technologies to increase engagement through various platforms including social media, virtual reality and conference call software.
