High Tide provides career education to young people who are most disadvantaged by showcasing the careers they could achieve to secure a better future. The virus has only increased the gap between privileged and under privileged and this project aims to give online education to those most in need.

    Situation

Tees Valley holds 5 boroughs within, including Middlesbrough and Hartlepool which are both rated in the top 10 most deprived areas of the UK in the National Statistics report, with Middlesbrough ranking top for most deprived. Many families we work with are numerous generations of unemployed and through supporting a young person to secure a career this can change the whole family line and bring them out of deprivation within the next generations.

    Solution

High Tide provides young people with career education to inspire them for a better future. By having a better understanding of the world of work, meeting local employees and employers, as well as exploring business sites this allows the young person to see that securing a career is a realistic ambition. We cover a range of sectors to suit as many young people as possible and also educate on employability skills with the support of many local businesses.
