    Situation

There are approximately seven million carers in the UK – that is 1 in 10 people. This number is rising and is predicted to more than double by 2030, with 3 in 5 people taking on caring responsibilities at some point in their lives. Caring can take a serious toll on carers’ emotional and physical well-being, as well as on personal relationships and family finances. PBL wants to continue to provide respite for those caring, and provide free access to the arts for carers and those they support.

    Solution

PBL will provide free tickets for all at an annual Christmas concert at Town Hall in recognition of carers and, after the performance, all will be encouraged to socialise with refreshments. PBL will acknowledge Carer's Week in June 2021, providing opportunities for carers to engage with the arts and speak to industry supporters, in the new facilities at Symphony Hall. The project will also provide touch-points by taking performers in to the community, facilitating further access to the arts.
