    Situation

During April 2019 - March 2020 Embrace supported 251 cases of young victims from Greater London; 64% of these were girls/young women. 32% related to sexual abuse and 39% to domestic violence. Across the UK, during the same period we supported 3009 young victims, our highest to date, and we know that over 700,000 children between 10 and 15 are victims of reported serious crime each year. We have a dedicated staff based in London, encouraging referrals and developing new partnerships.

    Solution

Our team will respond to the needs of children and families harmed by crime across Greater London, particularly those facing unprecedented hardship. We will do this by offering telephone counselling sessions and weekly emotional support to existing and new cases referred to our team. Every child triaged would also be eligible for practical support from our Hardship Fund which has been set up to deliver care packages for those affected during and following the virus measures.
